Camping and road trips became very popular during the last year, but we decided to still continue exploring our country this summer.

We usually road trip and stay at hotels or Airbnbs, like on this road trip we did last summer. But this year we decided to turn our SUV into a camper. That means we are using the back of our SUV to sleep, cook, and hangout.

We optimized every space to be able to store everyday items, cook and sleep. We have camped a few times and can say that we found a renewed love for the outdoors.

We made a list of all the must-haves if you decide to go on your own adventure of road tripping and turning your SUV into a camper.

Sleeping:

Mattress: The most important aspect of SUV-camping is the sleeping arrangement, so we made no cuts when it came to finding a comfortable mattress. We decided to go with a 4-inch memory foam, and so far it has worked perfectly.

Mesh Nets: Mosquito Nets are a must to keep insects out of the car at nighttime (or daytime) while letting the air flow through the car. We use these nets for the back windows of the car.

Sunshades: Another important item is sunshades, especially if you are camping during summer. They can keep your car fairly cool during the day, so is ready for a good night’s sleep. We like these curtains because they have magnets which makes them easy to install and to put away.

Electrics:

Ecoflow: After reading lots of reviews about the best solar generator, we went with the EcoFlow Pro. We decided to go with this one in particular because of the fast charging compare to others. We have a video testing the generator. Check it out here.

Fridge: We use this fridge, we also love it for its compact size (it fits behind the front seats) and because it cuts the need to be buying ice to keep food cold.
